Two eye care buzz topics at Noble Vision Group are ocular surface disease and dry eye syndrome. Our partners have developed a number of products to combat these prevalent eye problems, and we are always interested in learning more about their causes. It is widely believed that the increase in dry eye syndrome over the last several years is due in part to our increased use of computers and mobile devices. Staring at any sort of electronic screen for long periods of time can lead to eye strain, headache and sometimes dry eyes, as people tend to blink less when focusing on a screen.
A recent blog post from the professionals at Clearview Eye Care in Virginia Beach, VA details a study published by “Optometry and Visual Science” that explains how surfing the net on small mobile devices can increase eye strain. The blog post offers some insight and a few helpful tips on how to avoid straining your eyes when using your smart phone.

So true. Great information about glaucoma, and I loved the analogy of the boulder being pushed down the hill!

It is true. Gadgets can cause eye strain and eye irritation. Monitors, LCDs, tablet computers can do so to the eyes. My advise is to take a break and do not engage heavily on it.
